Eching, Germany September 13,2007 I am intrigued by a newspaper article about a German professor who is teaching a course on happiness. And I wonder whether this subject can be taught and how.

When I visited Burma in December of 2006, my guide said that the Burmese, almost 90% of them Buddhist, were too peaceful and passive to rise up against their oppressors, the ruling Junta. Now, less than a year later, they are indeed protesting, with with their beloved monks in the lead. What, if anything, can they achieve?
